Aerospace Biomedical and Life Support Engineering: Course Description

Astronauts experience a vastly different environment in space than the atmosphere they are used to on Earth. This course will explore bones and muscle changes in partial gravity and microgravity. Professor Dava Newman will also scrutinize the affect alternate gravitational settings have on motor functions and the cardiovascular system. After studying these, the class delves into engineering techniques used in space suits and vehicles to counteract the adverse affects of gravity on humans. Different types of software are required to view the files in this course, including MATLAB (.m and .mdl) and Winzip (.zip). The class is presented in lecture format.

Lectures, study materials, suggested readings, exams and assignments are available online for free for this course. If you would like to take advantage of this free course, visit the Aerospace Biomedical and Life Support Engineering course page.
